How Much and How Often Should I Feed my Dog

Dog Food Nutrition : Feed your pet the amount of food necessary to grow, thrive, and maintain a healthy body weight. That may sound obvious, but it is true. The only method that truly works in my experience is trial and error. If your pet is overweight, feed him less. If your pet is underweight or growing, feed him more.

Two meals daily is the standard for dog, but this rule isn't set in stone. Some animals, most notably small breed puppies, should be fed more often.

A balanced diet is a very important part of the care you should give your dog.
It is however difficult to know how much food to give. The aim of this program is to estimate the needs of your dog, but be aware :
it only works for dogs in good health. If your dog is ill consult your vet about quantities. This program allows you to calculate:
- Amounts for meals you make yourself : you choose the ingredients : vegetables, meat and the program calculates the quantity to give to your dog.
- Dry dog food based rations : You enter the composition of the food (on the back of the bag : e.g. amount of protein) and it will calculate the amount to be given daily.
- Varied meals, consisting of dry food and ingredients that you choose. You select the proportion of different components and the program does the rest.
List and composition of dry dog food in the database: rates of protein, fat content, humidity, rate of whole fibre, ash, calcium and phosphorus.
